Roof Balustrade Height

It is not uncommon for customers to opt for 1100mm balustrade heights in all applications.
Roof balustrade height. As long as your balustrade meets this it will pass the building inspection. Decks four metres 4m from the ground or higher need to meet additional design requirements. Shall be measured from the bhmp to the highest point of the roof excluding parapets and balustrades not exceeding 4 ft. Exterior balconies such as a juliet balcony roof edges etc.
For these decks the handrails must not have any climbable elements located between 150mm and 760mm of the floor. The balustrade from should be 1 1m from datum to the top. Where a building is removed from all lot lines by a distance equal to its proposed height above grade the height of building shall be measured from the bhmp to the highest point of the roof or parapet. However you may find you want a taller balustrade.
We find in most instances our customers prefer the balustrade to be 1000mm to 1100mm high on internal landings and around internal voids. These floor to finish heights are the minimum height required. This means horizontal balustrades are not allowed to be used at this height and vertical balustrades should have no footholds. Externally this height changes.
Many customers find that although a 900mm balustrading guarding an internal landing or void meets regulations it doesn t feel or seem safe. Internally the height of the balustrade from the point that someone is stood on to the top of the balustrade should be a minimum of 0 9m. This height must be maintained all the way around the top of the handrail.
