Roxul Roof Deck

An air permeable insulation like mineral wool cannot be installed between rafters if the assembly is unvented.

For a vented system rockwool comfortbatt can be installed between the roof rafters with a 1 air space at the underside of the roof deck. The air space reduces risk of condensation on the underside of the deck and can help prevent ice dams from forming. It features a unique flexible edge designed to compress as the batt is inserted then spring back expanding the batt against the frame studs to give a complete fill. If you are planning to install mineral wool insulation on the interior side of the roof sheathing you will need to include a ventilation channel between the top of the insulation and the underside of the roof sheathing.
